Northeastern Travels
03:45
|
|||
CHORUS
From northeastern lands that gave birth to a nation
We set forth with music and joy in our souls
In hotels and houses from east coast to west coast
On-line and together in song we will roll
From city of marble and monuments’ glory
On grounds where we gathered to protest and play
The tales and ballads that carry our stories
Provide counterpoint as they show us the way
Then up the wide bay past the crab and the steel
Where banners flew proudly through war and through fire
We jousted with knights as the clam chowder flowed
And on children’s voices our music rose higher
From historic halls where the words of our fathers
Were put down on parchment, the future to see
And liberty’s bells rang a rousing concerto
To carry the songs of the dreamers, the free
From islands of dreams at the gateway to freedom
Our voices like skyscrapers reach for the sky
A brilliant contata of style and culture
The folks we have dreamed of for all of our lives
Where fields ran red with the blood of our patriots
For things we believed in we learned how to fight
With hymnals we joined in a mass filking chorus
And in concert, in open filk sang through the night

Through a Child's Eyes
03:22
|
|||
Through a child's eyes, a tale of hope against despair.
Through a child's eyes, a tale of lives cut short.
The doors that will not slam shut, the walls that won't close in.
The good that lies within the heart, that won't let evil win.
The horrors brought by people who let hatred rule their lives
I see the fires burn through a child's eyes.
Through a child's eyes, I see her words take flight again.
Through a child's eyes, The fam-'lies live once more.
Across the years her story will briefly take the stage.
Their joys and terrors passing by, a diary's turning page.
While heroes from the outside try and help them to survive.
I see them live again through a child's eyes.
Through a child's eyes, I see the tears are falling down.
Through a child's eyes, I see the shock and pain.
A soul is deeply moved by a young girl's tragic fate.
A mind has learned from history what happens when we hate.
I feel hope that the millions will not once more have to die.
And see the future born through a child's eyes.
I see the future born through a child's eyes.

Never Too Late
03:29
|
|||
Our reach to space was new when I first came into the world
When I was just a few months old our lunar flags unfurled
A dance on distant soil, the wonders that it showed
Fulfilled a dream that came to us a hundred years ago
CHORUS: It's never too late, never too late, never too late to fly (2x)
When I was young I watched the Skylab with enraptured eyes
In junior high, with classmates, watched the first space shuttles rise
I kept the faith through Challenger 'til once more they roared free
And that's when I discovered all the folks who dreamed like me
When John Glenn went back to the stars I followed as he flew
With those who cheered the first time and with those who cheered anew
The way he persevered until he finally reached his goals
Inspired the journeys that I take and the places I may go
Now as we sing with I.S.S., our dreams are still alive
With Falcon 9 and Dragon flight we know that hope survives
And though it may take many years to reach the stars beyond
We'll bring to life the visions born of paint and word and song

Builders' Song
03:14
|
|||
CHORUS
Hail to the diggers! Hail to the builders!
Hail to the stars that we see through the dome
This is our foot in the door of the future
This is our pride; this is our lunar home
Tunneling under the regolith
Blasting a home through the dark and the cold
Building a dream from this crater
Engineers, architects, pioneers bold
Tendrils of metal stretch outward
Concrete and steel root us to the ground
Skyline extends 'cross the moonscape
Luna, our homestead, to her we are bound
Rhapsody of road and structure
Rendered from dreamscapes of fantastic worlds
Birth of a home and a city
Challenges mastered, our banner unfurled
Gathering now in the courtyard
Earth smiles down through the glass and the steel
Dancing and toasting our vision
Hail to the dreamers who made this place real!

Valancy's Gift
03:41
|
|||
I went down to the canyon where teachers never last
They hardly ever stay more than a year
Both tired and uncertain, outsider in their town
I tried to hide my sorrow and my fear
They greeted me with kindness, with meals and a bed
I think of all the years I’ve spent adrift
And I hope that I can win them with sweetness and with love
For teaching is a Persuasion and a Gift
Teaching is a Persuasion and a Gift
The wooden desks and footstools I dusted off with care
The children brought some autumn leaves for me
With lessons and with laughter, with tricks, and smiles, and play
We made just what a model class should be
I’ve longed to find a family; a school where I’m at ease
Where pictures aren’t the only things I lift.
So I’ll do just what I need to, to keep this classroom mine
For teaching is a Persuasion and a Gift
Teaching is a Persuasion and a Gift
I recognized the fine fruit that should not have been there
But could not grasp the truth before my eyes
With fire on the hillside, I brought the rains of life
Though in my soul my hopes just burned and died
The Old Ones asked their questions, and looked into my mind.
The walls I built within began to shift
Now I’ll stay here with my People and give them all I can
For teaching is a Persuasion and a Gift
Teaching is a Persuasion and a Gift

Songs Flying Free
04:04
|
|||
CHORUS:
Songs—
Songs flying free
Notes rising high
From sea to sea
Under the streets, and down hotel halls
We gather to sing, we answer the call
We speak of a day when our rights have been won
When easy the words will reach to the sun
The industry suits, the government eyes
The profits they claim, that cover the lies
The stations all play what they want you to hear
But silence the ones with the power they fear
So open your soul, and reach with your mind
Your words make a bridge, the future to find
Believe in yourself and have faith in a choice
You could change the world when you raise up your voice

Come Travel With Me
04:22
|
|||
When I first came aboard your ship all minds were closed to me
No single member of the crew saw my ability
Until I brought you to a place fantastic, strange, and new
Then you began to understand the things that I could do
I saw that you had capabilities you barely know
The places that lie in your reach if you let your mind go
I'll take you on the journey through those far and distant lands
A special destiny is yours if you just take my hand
CHORUS:
If you open your eyes to the things you could be
I will take you a place that few others will see
If you open your mind; set your thoughts running free
And you travel with me
Come travel with me
First on your own you set out; your horizons aimed to spread
You could not see the dangers or the trials that lay ahead
The one who was most dear to you was lost to you, you feared
From deep inside you called for me; I heard and I appeared
I was the one who reassured that there was still a way
Together we both worked as one to open up the gate
Your journey has now started, you've begun to realize
A new world is within your reach; the power within you lies
Once more your path led to me as you flew among the stars
Now poised to make the jump to a dimension without bars
The journey they had planned for you was not your destined way
From out of swirling forces you leapt to another plane
You did not know that it was me; I came to you disguised
With my help and my urging you found just where your heart lies
At last your mind is open full, your spirit's running free
You stand prepared to take my hand and travel space with me
